Meteorology is the study of weather. It is an earth science. With all the drama of global warming, we decided to make it a separate category on it's on. Anyone with a computer, which you have or you would not be reading this, can have access to many weather channels or links. Real time weather instruments are also commonly used when a computer is not available.
Weather is an interdisciplinary science which encompasses all the basic sciences. It is basically the study of the atmosphere and phenomena which occur there. The phenomena are observable events (such as a storm) that meteorology predicts and explains. The principal variables in the atmosphere are temperature, pressure, water vapor and the gradients and interactions of each variable. This information is analyzed for predicting weather patterns through time. StarscapeScientific monitors these events through NOAA the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Meteorology, climatology, atmospheric physics and atmospheric chemistry are just a few of the disciplines of the atmospheric sciences. The association of meteorology and hydrology is the collective discipline of hydro-meteorology. Hydrology is the study of the Earth's water cycles, including streams, rivers and oceans. Oceanography is the study of ocean currents and chemistry, which have a profound effect on climatology. Climatology is basically meteorology on a global scale. All of these disciplines rely heavily upon computer generated models in predicting weather patterns. These models are crucial in predicting weather hazard events, such as tornadoes and hurricanes.
